When the body becomes part of the instrument
Some things are not touched directly, but they are still shaped by our presence.

What defines a musical instrument?
What defines a musician?
And how does the relationship between them shape what emerges?
Can you make music without touching the instrument?
With the theremin, the artist does not touch the instrument directly. Instead, movement, distance, precision, and the position of the body shape the sound.
And when an artist chooses this instrument to share their story and develops the sensitivity and technique to play it with such precision, it makes me question some of our preconceived definitions.
Where does the instrument end and the musician begin?
Perhaps creativity and exploration sometimes start by entering a relationship we do not yet fully understand.
Awareness may be the ability to sense the field before we try to control the notes.
And I am here for it.
