I did my best with what I was given.
Sometimes doing your best is not about having everything you need, but about what you create with what you were given.

In The Comeback, Lisa Kudrow repeatedly goes to places that feel deeply human and fully present.
She connects with the viewer at a very human level, while delivering multiple characters within one coherent story.
There is Valerie Cherish, navigating the nuances of creating characters inside a show within a show. Aunt Sassy in Room and Bored. Mallory Church in Seeing Red. Beth in How’s That?!. And Valerie herself in the reality show The Comeback.
And she keeps delivering.
The story of the project itself adds another layer. It was cancelled, returned years later, and then returned once again, this time bringing AI into the television story, but also into a much broader reflection on life, work, identity, and what we are given to work with.
Then comes the final scene.
Valerie looks back on her journey and says she did her best with what she was given.
After all the ambition, rejection, performance, persistence, and reinvention, the line lands with such simplicity.
Another great story, told through so many nuances and layers.
And I am here for it.
